Last Day of Baseball

Last day of baseball.jpg

Today was our last baseball game and awards ceremony (gotta love those trophys!). It’s been a looooong season. I can’t say that my boys are very good at baseball. I don’t think Truitt even likes baseball, but I do know that the boys have made some good little friends. It’s all about having fun. I’m just hoping the boys can find their “niche” someday. Until then, we’ll just keep trying new things.

A peek of sun . . .

Peek of Sun.jpg

This weather has been downright depressing.  After dinner last night the sun peeked out for about ten minutes.  I grabbed my camera and coaxed Owen outside (which wasn’t hard) to try shooting into the sun.  I love how his unruly blonde hair picks up the sunlight.  At 16 months he still hasn’t had a haircut.  I just can’t bring myself to cut off those blondie curls.

One more from the firehouse . . .

Well, it’s another disgustingly hot and humid day.  I can’t bear to go outside.  So I decided to post one more pic from yesterday.  Truitt wasn’t well represented on yesterday’s post, plus I really like this shot of he and Isaac.  They totally look like Air Traffic Controllers (Lord help us if they were!).  When Joe asked the boys about their trip to Mel’s firehouse all they talked about were these headsets.  They really had such a great time.

The other “Mel”

There are two “Mel’s” in our neighborhood- I’m one of them and we went to visit the other one today at work.  Neighbor Kelly organized today’s field trip and even made French Toast casserole for the firehouse.  The boys- all four of them, had a blast!  They got to climb all over the firetruck, try out the headsets, hear the siren and take a tour of the firehouse .

We had such a great time.  Thanks for everything Mel!

Quick post . . . .more to come

Mel and Owen.jpg

I’m going through my photos of todays “field trip” to neighbor Melvin’s firehouse.  I just had to stop and post these great shots of Mel talking to Owen on the headphones.  It was the cutest thing!  Owen was sitting in the backseat while Melvin talked to him from the front of the truck.

I’ll have more photos to post soon!

Tuesday Art Project

Alpha Project.jpg

It’s another hot one, so we decided to do some painting today.  I wanted to do something to help Truitt to review his letters for Kindergarten and came up with this project (inspired by a painting I saw in the “Land of Nod” catalog).  We went to Michael’s this morning and picked up two canvases and some sticky letters (I wanted lower case and caps, but could only find upper case).  I divided the canvases into two inch squares and the boys stuck each letter of the alphabet into a square.  The boys mixed colors for each square and painted right over the sticker letters.  When we peel off the letters (see letter “A” on the painting) they will be white underneath.  I may have them use watery watercolors to paint in the white letters later.  The boys had fun doing this but pooped out on me about half way through.  I told them we could finish later.  The painting is pretty tedious since they do need to pay attention to the lines bordering each square.  I was really impressed with how well they did.  They were also mixing great colors and really getting into it.  I’ll post the final results once we finish up.

Monday morning . . .

Owen Ladder.jpg

Owen loves to wake up his brothers, especially Isaac, because he gets to climb the ladder.  I couldn’t decide which of these photos I liked best so I decided to just post them both!

It’s hot, hot, hot outside so all of the boys (including neighbor Jun) are playing in the basement.  I’m attempting to get my house organized, but I thought I’d take a break and work on todays post.

Stay cool everyone!

Mom, B & Phil’s Photos . . .

Lomax Weekend.jpg

These photos were all taken by my mom, Becky or Phil.  We just got home a little bit ago and I thought it might be fun to post some of their pics.  We had a great weekend together!

Keith and Stacey- Mom ordered way too much flank steak so we need to get together again to make the rest of the lollipops- we’ll be sure and give you guys a call.  It would be great to see you two!

Family Weekend

blog.jpg

The Lomaxes, Speelmans and Dahns are all together this weekend in Shelby! Today we grilled “lollipops” (marinated flank steak rolled up on a stick- YUM!), made fresh corn on the cob from Sherer’s farm and toasted marshmallows for gooey s’mores. But we’re not done eating yet! Tonight we’re headed to St. Pete’s Fest and then Mansfield Rib Cook-Off.
