Truitt’s first “Orange Crush” soccer game . . .

Truitt soccer.jpg

Today was Truitt’s *first* soccer game.  His team decided to name themselves “Orange Crush”.  Our “down the street” neighbor Joey is on the team (see True and Joey above) and her mom is one of Truitt’s coaches!  Truitt did an awesome job today!   Last year True mostly ran around the field aimlessly- he has improved so much.  He went after the ball just about every time it came his way.  Way to go Truitt!!

Isaac and Truitt’s FIRST day of school . . .

First Day.jpg

See, I wasn’t gone long ;).

These aren’t the best pictures- I had to use my flash (ugh!) this morning because the sun wasn’t quite up before I left for school.  The boys were very excited (and acting very goofy).  Truitt only had a half day of school today.  I’m excited to hear how their *first* days were.  I’ll be sure and report back!

Summer is *officially* over . . .

Summer is over.jpg

Well, today is my first day of school.  The boys start Wednesday- so summer really is over.  I successfully posted to my blog EVERYDAY this summer and had a blast doing it.  As of today I will not be posting daily.  For those of you who are as addicted to my blog as I am- never fear- I have a feeling you’ll be hearing from me quite often.  I’ve had so much fun taking photos and writing little blurbs that I’m sure I’ll still post a few times a week.

After all, I have to document Truitt’s first day of Kindergarten and Isaac’s first day of second grade and all the other firsts that will happen this year!

Hummer!

Hummer.jpg

Yesterday we had a big yellow Hummer parked in our driveway.  One of Tori’s friends took Ty for a spin in it for his birthday.  My boys hitched a ride too.  They were so excited!

Pokemon, Pokemon, POKEMON!

These boys eat, sleep and breathe Pokemon.  I guess one benefit of being Pokemon-crazed is that Isaac has improved his reading skills over the summer by reading his “Pokedex” and the instructions on the game.  Truitt is not excluded from this Pokemon disease.  Every night before the boys go to sleep they lay in their beds and decide which Pokemon they want to *be*.  I am always “Skitty” :).

Crazy Cousins

Whew, I’m getting this one in just under the wire.  It’s 11:15pm and we just got home from Matt and Kris’ house.  School starts next week and this is the first time we’ve gotten the kids together all summer (excluding camping).  You’d think we live in different states!  Our lives have just become so crazy.  The kids LOVE seeing their cousins and it’s so nice to just catch up with “the other” Speelman’s.  Speaking of which, Kris and Matt made us some AWESOME chicken enchiladas *plus* homemade salsa (with home-grown tomatoes) and fruit salsa with cinnamon pita chips.  We topped it all off with a margarita and great conversation.  The photos above were taken just before we left.  The kids were crazy, crazy!  We had a blast!  Thanks Speelman’s- next time we’ll host :).

My flag-obsessed son . . .

Flag.jpg

Owen has been so fixated on the American flag every since someone handed him one at the Memorial Day parade back in May.  He carries one around with him absolutely everywhere.  He points to every flag we pass while driving in the car.  He walks, no runs, to every house on our street that has a flag displayed.  Owen will take his flag into the bathtub with him and to bed.  I was trying to get a good picture of him today, but he wouldn’t stop staring at those darn flags.

Guess who’s coming up the stairs right this very minute with a flag in each hand- your future president- Owen Henry Speelman.

Owen’s *FIRST* haircut!

I’m sorry- we had to do it!  I know many of you voted against this haircut, but at 17 months I think it’s time.  I promise there are still little blondie curls in the back!  However, he does look like a *big* boy now.  Owen was awesome- he sat perfectly still.  It was a little sad seeing those cute little locks on the floor.

“Cutie”

Cutie.jpg

Did I mention that we brought a *critter* back from Fort Walton Beach?  Well, meet “Cutie”, Isaac’s hermit crab (named by Truitt).  Isaac wanted to name his hermit crab “Geo”, but Truitt kept insisting he should name it “Cutie” because of it’s “cute wittle eyes”.  I crack up every time I refer to this grotesque little varmit as “Cutie”.  I swore I would never own a creepy little critter like this- of course it was dad that took Isaac to the store to get him.  Take a guess who’s been cleaning Cutie’s wittle cage?  You guessed it :).

Back to the beach . . .

True wave.jpg

I came across this photo of Truitt caught in a wave while going through my pictures.  I had to share it!  Not to mention it’s just too soon to post pictures of school!
