Isaac’s Bowling Party!

Bowling Party.jpg

Whew!  Two hours of pure FUN (and chaos!).  The boys were great.  I think everyone had a blast.  I made each of the boys an “Isaac Strikes Back” t-shirt (my talented sister made the logo).  My students splatter painted them red and black.  With the black lights on (glow bowling) they looked so cool!  I also got glow bracelets for the boys.  They were so funny together- chanting each others names as they bowled.  They are all such great friends.  Isaac will have some great memories.

Bubbles!

While we were in Columbus I picked up this little bubble blowing dragon at Target.  Owen loves it!  The best part is that he can blow the bubbles himself.

Flat Stanley

This is Flat Stanley.  Some of you may know that Flat Stanley was a real boy until a bulletin board fell on him.  It didn’t hurt him, it just flattened him out.  Now Flat Stanley can do lots of things like slide under a door and mail himself on vacation.  Flat Stanley is visiting us from Lithia, Florida where he lives with my cousins Mindy, Steve and Cooper.  Truitt volunteered to take Flat Stanley under his wing and show him around Cincinnati.    The photos above were taken by Truitt to document Stanley’s visit.  Truitt and Stanley played cars, basketball, Star Wars and even took a trip to see Grandma.  We will be mailing Flat Stanley back to Florida today along with the photos from his visit.  I’m sure Cooper missed him very much!

Isaac is 8!

It’s official . . . Isaac is a big ‘ole 8-year-old!  We had a small to-do last night for his official birthday.  Isaac’s dinner request- Papa John’s pizza then chocolate cake for dessert.  Just one present- Isaac opened a Nintendo DS.  Isaac is having his first “real” birthday party on Saturday.  He invited all the boys from his class to a bowling party.  He wanted a Star Wars bowling party.  Of course I’ll take lots of pics!

Columbus!

The boys and I drove up to Columbus today to meet Grandma “Octishelby” (The boys came up with that).  I let Isaac and True play “hooky” from school today.  The boys (all 3) were so good in the car.  We hung out at Polaris a bit, hit a few stores and then had lunch at O’Charley’s.  Last, but not least we went to Target (a family favorite) and Grandma let Isaac pick out a birthday gift (Isaac will be EIGHT tomorrow).  We had so much FUN!  The photos are courtesy of Grandma- I didn’t even get out my camera!  Thanks for a fun day mama!

Look who’s getting freckly . . .

After being outside just a couple of sunny days I can see the freckles popping up all over Isaac’s nose and cheeks.  Isaac reluctantly posed for a couple of quick freckle shots.

Experimenting with Owen

Owen Exp.jpg

Are you sick of Owen yet?  I know, I know, it’s only day one of my Spring Break and this is the third Owen post.  I was playing around with some photos from today and thought I would share my experiments.  For those of you who don’t know, there many different ways to post-process photos using PhotoShop (similar to using filters in the darkroom).  I have sooooooo much to learn about PS.  I’m only adjusting color and contrast here.  The triangular shapes you see on the left side of the image (first and last) is just the way my lens (50mm) renders the brick at f1.8 (aperature).  Very cool!

“Blowing”

Flag.jpg

Owen and I stopped at the Blue Ash Memorial this morning.  He is so fascinated with flags- especially flags that are blowing.  I really think it all started last Memorial Day when someone handed him a flag at the parade.  Ever since then he spots them everywhere- big and small.  When we drive down the road he sits in his car seat yelling “Look!  Look!  Blowing!”.  He doesn’t stop until you acknowledge him.  Everytime I take him to Kim’s house he gets all upset if her flag is wound around the pole.  She keeps a dowel rod on hand to fix it.  He won’t go inside until she does.

He absolutely LOVED the Blue Ash Memorial.  He was mezmerized by the flags.  He would stand at each flag pole (about ten of them) and just stare at the flags blowing.  He was also facinated by the bronze statues.  He stood by each one and studied it.  He even held the hand of the woman veteran.  In the last two photos you can see him sticking his flag into the ground.  Then he just stood back and watched his flag blow with the others.

Spring Break!

Owen B-ball.jpg

Today is my first official day of Spring Break!  Unfortunately the big boys aren’t on break for another two weeks.  So I’ll be hangin’ with Owen.  You’ll probably be seeing a lot of him on the blog this week :).  Today we did two of his very favorite things.  Owen has three obsessions in life (and I do mean OBSESSIONS) #1 ”Shoot” (basketball), #2 ”Blowing” (flags) and #3 “Baby” (vaccuum- don’t ask).  This morning we went outside to shoot around.  Owen is really pretty good at basketball, probably because he practices daily, indoors and out.  He always cheers for himself when he makes it :).  Stay tuned . . . you’ll be seeing his next favorite thing coming up in the next post.
