I love my family . . .

Isaac reading.jpg

This is what I saw when I went into Owen’s room tonight :) .  Of course, I had to run and get my camera.  Technically these photos leave a lot to be desired (1600 ISO- no flash), but it’s the moment I wanted and I got it.  Not only did Isaac read to Owen tonight, but when Owen “invaded” Isaac’s shower he shampooed his hair and bathed him.  What a great kid.  Now that school has started life seems to have sped up to double time.  It’s moments like these I don’t want to miss.  This is the very reason I LOVE photography.  I want my boys to remember moments like these too.  I hope that the masses of photos I have taken will someday remind them of the wonderful childhood they shared with one another.  I’m so lucky to have them :) .

Landscaping

Landscaping.jpg

Yesterday Joe and I finally finished up our landscaping project.  Joe did the design work (as well as the heavy labor).  He really did a great job.  It looks awesome!  Our curb appeal quadrupled overnight :) .  You will also notice that we added a flag.  I know- with Owen as our son it’s hard to believe we didn’t already have one.  He’s already obsessing over it.  At least he’s doing it in our yard now :) .

This is Isaac . . .

Don’t laugh . . . I made this fancy little photo montage in 2000.  I guess this is probably one of the very first times I used Photoshop.  Why am I posting it?  Well, I’m feeling guilty that I haven’t posted for a few days.  I also have some crazy-bizarre stuff going on with my “My Pictures” folder.  Random folders are missing and their contents (images) are spilling out everywhere.  Basically, I have THOUSANDS of random photos floating around in my “My Pictures” folder.  I dedicated some time to “cleaning up” the mess and found a few photo gems from earlier in the decade.  This little montage caught my eye (and cracked me up a bit) so I thought I’d share.  I promise I’ll be posting more very soon.  School start-up has kicked my butt.  I’ve been so worn out the last week.  See you soon :).

My hometown . . .

Shelby Flood.jpg

This is Shelby, Ohio–my hometown.  On Tuesday Shelby encountered the worst flood in the town’s history. The last time Shelby had significant flooding I was a Junior at Shelby Senior High. Actually, I remember it well. The photos above look a lot like the flood of ‘87.  These photos were taken by Mindy Utz, one of my high school classmates (Thanks Mindy!). Twenty-two people had to be rescued–two by a Coast Guard helipcopter. I’m happy to report that my mom and stepdad are doing just fine. Luckily they do not live in the flood plain. The Blackfork splits the town in half so anyone needing to get to the hospital has to board a boat and cross the river. The Blackfork also goes right through the center of town. I remember it took quite some time to re-build after the flood. My heart goes out to those families who lost homes and businesses.

The end of summer (for me anyway!)

Well, today was my first official day of school which means that “a-post-a-day” must end.  Of course I’ll still be posting plenty, I just can’t keep it up everyday now that life is crazy again.  To those of you still waiting to hear from me about session dates, I am still trying to find a date for as many of you as I can.  Hang in there!  I’ve been so thrilled with the response to my photography.  Thanks to you all!  I just wish I could add a few more days to the week!

I had to share a couple more shots from my last session.  Enjoy!

I’m a cover girl!

gp.jpg

Well, it’s actually Owen on the cover, but it’s my photo!  Going Places is a full-color glossy mag in Chicago.  My sister is the Art director and uses my photos in the magazine every now and then, but this is my first COVER.  You will notice my little bear, Owen, on the inside cover too.  Can you believe those photos were taken the last week of June???  People definitely thought we were nuts all dressed for trick-or-treat.  Oh, and that cute little pumpkin was carved by Truitt!  I can’t wait to see the real thing!  (Can you tell I’m excited :) ?)

My little monster

Owen powder.jpg

Owen has been in rare form lately.  I found him having a powder party in his room.  He was having such a great time watching puffs of powder come out of the container.  Powder was EVERYWHERE!  He also enjoyed rubbing it all over his dresser.  Isaac walked in Owen’s room and said, “What the heck!”.  Isaac thought it was only appropriate to sign owen’s name to his “work of Art”.

Connor, Logan & Zoe

How incredibly *cute* are these kids (and oh so photogenic)!  I am only halfway through my pics from this mornings session and already I have a ton of favorites.  These three were so cooperative.  I can tell that they are very close.  Once I get through the rest of the photos I may just post some more!

Thank you . . .

Uncle Matt.jpg

I recently discovered who nominated frecklephoto for one of Cincinnati’s Top 10 blogs.  I think he would like to remain anonymous so I won’t blow his cover, but some of you will certainly recognize him from the photo above.  Can I just say that I’m still *floating* from all of this.  Thanks so much Uncle Matt!

This is as good as it gets . . .

Family Photo.jpg

You would think that since I am a photographer I would have a decent family photo (I’m not knocking you Devin- you did a great job on this shot :) ).  This was taken our very last night in Florida.  I realized that I didn’t have any pics of all of us together so I handed my camera to Devin and rounded up the troops.  The beach is behind us- really!
