*Famous* Owen

CP_Aug 2008 page_55.jpg

You may remember this adorable shot from a couple weeks ago.  I mentioned in that post that I was working on some images for an article in Chicago Parent.  Well this is the article.  How cute does that little Owen look?!  He’s so very corporate.  It’s so exciting to see my photos in print!

Happy Birthday Anna!

Annas b-day.jpg

After my workshop tonight I loaded up the boys and we headed out to Mason for Anna’s 5th birthday party.  The boys were so excited to hang out with their friends and swim.  I packed a swim bag before I left for my workshop and threw in my trusty p+s (have I mentioned I love that thing :) ).  It was so nice to sit back and chat with friends after staring at a computer screen all day.  Thanks for a great time Matt, Jodi, Anna, Jack and Abby!

Baptism Flag

IMG_9332.jpg

This is proving to be my toughest week of posting.  I’ve had no problem coming up with posts until now.  However, I am taking a workshop for school this week.  I’m gone most of the day which makes it tough to come up with new material :).  Anyway, here’s a pic from Owen’s baptism that I never posted.  Nancy, Owen’s Godmother, bought him the most appropriate Baptism gift.  It’s a flag with the Papal seal on it- or as Owen calls it, his baptism flag.  It just goes to show that there is a flag for everything!  Of course, he loves it!

*Sweet*

It’s 11:06pm and I just realized I never posted today- oops!  Here’s a teeney weeney sneek peek from a session I did last week.  I just love Elliott’s pose here- she is so adorable!

Baseball Trophy

Trophy.jpg

Yesterday was True’s last baseball game and team picnic.  Each of the boys received their coveted trophy.  Those trophies are so precious to them.  It was a good season, but I can’t say that I’m sad to see it come to an end.  Now we have a month or two until soccer starts up :).

Scouting out Keehner park

Keehner.jpg

I’m taking photos at Keehner Park in West Chester today.  I have never been there so I loaded up the boys to help me scout it out.  The boys were immediately drawn to the creek where we spent most of our time exploring.  They found creepy critters, fossils and a few fish too.  It’s really gorgeous in that creek bed.  I bribed a few photos out of them- their reward- smoothies from Smoothie King.  It was the perfect end to hot ‘n sweaty hike in the creek!

Adventure Camp

Adventure Camp.jpg

Last night we picked up Isaac from Adventure camp and attended the final dinner and campfire festivities.  Isaac was at Boy Scout camp for FOUR whole days!  I wasn’t sure he was going to make it, but it appears he did very well and had a great time.  His brothers missed him immensely (mom did too).  It was very strange having one boy missing from our everyday activities.  The first thing Isaac said to me when we arrived at camp was, “I think I should take a shower when I get home since I never took one here.”  He assured me he did brush his teeth though (the next question I asked).  After dinner all the troops did a little skit then the counselors did a skit of their own.  Anyone who’s ever been to camp knows how hilarious those camp counselors can be.  The photos of Isaac and Truitt laughing are their reactions to the counselors skit (which was hilarious for the record).  Joe drove in from Detroit last night just in time for the campfire closing at camp.  Owen was thrilled to see him.  Truitt was SO excited to see Isaac.  They truly are best buddies after all.  Right now Truitt is stewing because it’s 12:00 noon and Isaac isn’t awake yet!

Hiatus

Belly.jpg

I wanted to make a little announcement today on my blog, I will be taking some time off from photo sessions for a while.  Now that school is starting up again it’s just too difficult to juggle three boys, teaching and photo sessions- not to mention being pregnant too.  Right now, I know I will stay on my “hiatus” until at least June.  This past Spring was a little tough with photo sessions added to the mix.  I’m hoping to begin taking sessions again next summer, but I need to wait and see how *life* is at the Speelman home.  I know that I will never stop taking pictures, but right now I need take some time out for my family and myself.  Oh, and if you already have a session scheduled- never fear- I’m not cancelling any sessions, I’m just not adding any new ones.  Thanks so much for ALL your support- and of course, I’ll never stop blogging :).

By the way, I know the photo I posted is not the best technically- but little Mr. Owen was giving the baby kisses on my belly and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to grab a shot.  Believe me- It’s not easy taking a photo of your own belly!

Put-in-Bay

Put-in-Bay.jpg

It is a Speelman tradition to go to Put-in-Bay each year during Campingpalooza.  The rain almost foiled the tradition this year, but we opted to go on the 4th of July (which we try to avoid due to the crowds).  I’m SO glad we decided to make the trip.  The crowds weren’t too bad at all.  It was a GORGEOUS day too.  After riding the ferry over to the island we always head directly to Frosty’s for cold beer and pizza (minus the beer for me this year).  Then we herd the kids across the street to the playground.  We usually go to the monument, but this year it just didn’t happen.  Max, Jack, Isaac and Truitt kept asking me to take their picture in various locations.  Jack remembered photos I’ve taken past years and wanted to re-create them- I thought that was so sweet.  They absolutely LOVE hanging out together.  July 5th is Nicci and Brian’s anniversary- and they were married right here on the island too!  These are some of the best memories for all the Speelman clan.

Ty & Paige

Harris.jpg

Check out these two cuties!  I teach with their dad and I used to work with their mom too.  They are such a FUN family!  Joe and I met Victor and Meghan before they were even married.  We’ve all come a long way since then!  I wish Vic could have made it out for the photos.  Ty and Paige kept me on my my toes, but I was able to catch them standing still long enough to capture their cuteness!  I just love the one of Meghan with the kids- they adore their mommy, that’s for sure!
