The Browns make us proud!

We have tailgated in our driveway with our neighbors for the last five years every time the Browns travel to Cincy to take on the Bengals.  This is the first year we’ve celebrated a WIN!  Our tailgate started nice and early today with delicious breakfast food.  We broke out sloppy joes and the rest of the lunch fare around noon.  I’m typing this at about 8pm and we still have a few die hards out on the driveway watching football.  I didn’t take that many pics today.  It’s a tradition to photograph Owen and his good buddy Nico in their Browns and Bengals jerseys.  The boys hung out in the backyard and played in the dirt- they may have even eaten the dirt (note Nico’s mouth).  They had a blast together.  I have a feeling they will both sleep very well tonight.  Come to think of it- I think I will too.

Guess who’s two . . .

Click here and here if don’t remember this sweet little face :) .  More to come!

And now . . . more Jessica

This was such a fun session!  It was quite a change for me to be photographing someone who stood still :) .  Jessica did such a great job with posing- that’s something that I’m not used to doing.  With families and little ones I feel that I’m more of an observer.  I grab shots here and there when I feel the timing is right.  having to actually pose someone is a bit new to me.  i think we both did a pretty good job!

More Dominic . . .

How adorable is this little man?!  It’s hard to believe he’s three months old already.  He’s sporting some super cute Norwegian threads in this post- the ivory sweater and hat were hand knitted just for him and the red sweater is from Norway as well.  The blanket in the very last image is also Norwegian- it’s just gorgeous!  This little guy clearly has quite the international fan club :).

Last chance . . .

Capture Cincinnati has officially come to a close, however there are five days left to vote, vote, vote (until Sunday night).  So, if you had good intentions to go vote last time I posted a shameless plug, but never quite got around to it (sounds like me :) )- here’s your chance.  Click HERE or on the image above and vote away!  Thanks so much!!!

Jessica

Yesterday after school I met up with Jessica, one of our babysitters and a former SJHS student, for a senior session.  This is really my first full senior session.  I promised Jessica two years ago that I would take her senior pictures.  It’s hard to believe that time has passed already!  We went downtown to Longworth Hall for a more urban setting.  The location was perfect not to mention she’s such a beautiful girl.  I’m a little backed up on my proofing right now, but I wanted to post just one.  More to come!

Back to school . . .

We are back to school after our unexpected four day weekend.  I’ve been meaning to share one of my 7th graders first projects.  I always like to have something up for Open House, so I had students trace their hand and arm on tagboard.  They searched through magazines for images, words, designs and colors that described their personality and collaged their hand.  Each student also cut out the letters of their name as a final touch.  I love the way the hands turned out.  Each one is truly full of personality- it really helpd me to get to know my students too.  I painted this little sign for the center of the wall and we taped the hands right to the wall radiating from it.  This is just a portion of the installation.  The hands ended up filling the whole wall!  Fun :).

No school . . . Day two

Pipkins.jpg

I almost feel guilty being home again today.  It’s a GORGEOUS day.  However, I just heard on the news that over 500,000 homes are still without power.  Incredible!  Owen and I headed to Pipkins today to get some Fall mums for the porch.  I brought my trusty p+s along.  It seems that EVERYONE is off work and out and about.  The roads are jammed with people.  We saw lots of trees down and wires hanging from poles.  I ran into someone from our school board office while getting lunch.  She said that our High School is still in the dark, but even if the electricity isn’t on by morning the rest of the schools in the district will go back.  The funny thing is that tomorrow is a scheduled early release day- students will get out at 1:30pm :).

A little sun and sand on this cloudy day . . .

Wind!

Wind.jpg

The wind is CRAZY here today!  We have gusts upto 50mph.  The boys and I went to see “Star Wars:  Clone Wars” today.  Our journey home was quite exciting.  There was a tree down on 71S.  The roads were covered with leaves and branches.  It looked like a tornado had recently come through.  None of the traffic lights were working.  Fortunately we still have power, although it has flickered a few times.  Joe is in Cleveland at the Browns game.  Luckily our neighbors have been moving the giant branches that have fallen in our driveway and onto our front porch.  The photo above is of a huge branch that fell right onto our walkway and came right up our steps to the front door!  Stay safe out there everyone!
