Guess what time it is . . .

I was just giddy when I got an e-mail this week announcing that the ‘09 edition of Capture Cincinnati was kicking off.  I wasn’t sure if there would be another “go-round”.  It’s such an incredible project- I’ve gotten to know some of the photographers who have participated the last couple of years.  It’s so much fun to see all of their new work.  I also love seeing all the fresh new faces too.  I highly recommend you check out the website, sign up and vote!  It’s so much fun!  Don’t forget to upload a few photos of your own- you never know, they just might be published!  Click HERE  for a link to my profile (of course I wouldn’t mind one bit if you voted for my pics while you’re there :) ).

Just one . . . of Little Miss Sweet Cheeks

“Thank you for the flag parade!”

I wanted to share just one of my Memorial Day parade pictures.  It’s certainly not the best image, but it was a great moment to be captured.  After writing about Owen’s very first experience with flags, we were able to re-live it.  Owen had been talking about getting that flag for about a week.  I can’t tell you how excited he was about the parade.  As we all know a police car is always the leader of the parade.  Well, when that police car passed by Owen looked right at the officer and said, “Thank you for the flag parade!”  He proceeded to thank many others that passed by as well.  I’m pretty sure he thought the parade was just for him.

Three years ago today . . .

. . . a flag obsession was born.  As I was pulling together photos for the Mother’s Day slideshow I came across some images that mark a monumental moment in Owen’s life.  Many of you have asked me how he became so enamoured with flags.  Well, I know the exact moment it happened- Memorial Day 2006.  A veteran walked by and handed Owen a flag. He could hardly keep his eyes off of it the rest of the parade.  Once we returned home he carried it around with him everywhere.  And up until this very day he eats, sleeps and breathes flags.  In fact he woke up this morning announcing that the “Flag Parade” is today.  It amazes me that he has held on to this little obsession for three whole years!  I wonder how much longer it will last?

The Butterfly Show

My mom drove down this weekend to hang out and watch the kids while Joe and I went to a SJHS golf outing on Friday night.  I’ve been wanting to take the kids to Krohn Conservatory for their annual Butterfly Show .  Yesterday mom and I loaded up the troops and headed out.  The boys absolutely LOVED the butterflies!  they found quite a few that were willing to sit on their finger.  Owen found one butterfly that just wanted to crawl all over him!  Elle slept through most of the visit, but the butterflies loved her :) .  The show runs through June 21st.  If you get the chance to go,  I highly recommend it!

Update!

First of all, I need to let everyone know that I am officially booked for summer photo sessions.  It’s so hard for me to turn people away, but I’m already over my projected number of sessions.  For the sake of my family (and my sanity) I need to stop scheduling sessions.

I also wanted to  give you a workshop update.  The photo on the left is courtesy of Jess Korner, who will be traveling all the way from West Virginia for both workshops!  If you signed up for the DSLR Training workshop I sent you an e-mail with a lens recommendation (50mm 1.8).  I know many of you put it on your Mother’s Day wish list.  Jess was so excited about her new lens that she sent me a couple of photos taken with her new 50mm.   Such a great shot of her son Drew!  We will talk about this lens at the workshop, but it is certainly not required that you purchase it.

I am writing a little workbook for each of the workshops and I just finished the second one (yippee!).  I’m truly so excited about teaching this workshop.

So here’s the latest, the Learning to see Creatively workshop on June 9th is full.  There are two spots left in the July 19th section. Both of the DSLR Training workshops have four openings.  If you are interested in reserving a spot, just e-mail me at lucylomax@cinci.rr.com .

More!

For those of you who don’t know- I should mention that this is my brother, his wife Lori and my insanely CUTE nephew Ivan!

Guess who I got to take pictures of today . . .

Ivan the cute :).  More to come!

Our little Courtney is all grown up!

When we moved to this house Courtney was about five years old.  She looked across the street, saw our big dog and asked her parents if she could come over and ride the pony.  It’s hard to believe she is old enough to go to a high school dance.  She looked absolutely stunning tonight!

More of the Mudras . . .

Here are a few more pics from Jillian’s first birthday.  I’m trying very hard to get caught up!  Enjoy :)
