April 5×5’s: Camera Movement

This month we challenged ourselves to add movement to the camera while shooting. It was challenging alright!! Steve’s is epic and awesome (I really shouldn’t have put it first). I love B’s in b+w (that spider kinda creeps me out though). I’m learning so much doing this each month, but it’s kinda like using your opposite hand to write . . . it just doesn’t come easily to me yet.

Jani - Okay Mel, You are being hard on yourself — I thought you did a great job and your video capture was precious. It is always fun to hear Elle’s sweet voice. You captured movement wonderfully and it was like a short story with the running water of the creek, the runaway shoe and the steps to adventure. I have to agree the spider in B’s video was creeping me out– which I’m not sure if it was the actual spider or the fact that she was able to focus on it so calmly!?! The music in Steve’s video was powerful with some of his images. Another fun series of video clips — love them.

Bettina - I thought all the videos were exceptional! I am playing around with my Canon 5D Mark II and doing some video, but I am finding that while the video on my little screen looks to be in focus, when I upload it to my computer it is sourly not. Maybe I need glasses. Is there a trick?

Steve - hi Bettina,
yeah there is a trick kind of. Before you hit record hit the zoom in button on the top right hand side. Once you are zoomed in, then you can make sure you are focused correctly and then hit it a couple more times to zoom back out.
