Art 8 . . . Self Portraits

It’s been quite a while since I’ve shared student work.  My eighth grade students are working on self-portraits.  They are doing phenomenal work!  I have a great group of students this semester.  It’s so fun to watch their individual styles begin to emerge.

Christine - Hi! I would love to do this with my 9th graders. What do you have them painting on? What type of paper? Or is it wood? Also, what kind of paint – Acrylic or Tempera?

Debbie - Love these!!! Did your students do a grid drawing of themselves first? I would love my grade 8’s to do this!

Melissa - Yes Debbie, we actually gridded the Masonite panels after painting them with gesso. Hope that helps!
