Ahhhh, a day at the pool

The boys have had swimming lessons for the past two weeks.  Today we decided to just stay at the pool after lessons.  This is Elle’s second time at the Blue Ash pool.  She has clearly warmed up to it.  She went down the slide at least 10 times.  She was wandering all over the baby pool, so I finally put water wings on her.  The girl has no fear.  She was in heaven.  Isaac and Truitt kept taking turns watching her go up the stairs to the slide (she really didn’t need help, but I was afriad she might slip on the steps).  Owen was his typical “fishy” self.  He has a blast swimming all over the place.  It was a great summer day!

A Sunny Afternoon . . .

I couldn’t resist . . . I had to buy Elle a pair of Crocs.  I bought Owen a pair when he was about the same age.  I remembered photographing them for my blog so I searched for the post.  I had to smile when I read what I wrote . . . check it out HERE (scroll down below this post).  I spent about the same amount on Elle’s adorable Crocs.  I must have been a little smarter back then because I photographed Owen’s Crocs without him in them.  I had a tough time getting Elle to stand still long enough to get a shot of her feet.  Owen wanted to show me his “new trick” on the swing set.  He’s getting so big.  He made me nervous at first, but I quickly realized he had it all under control :) .  The last two photos show an emerging personality trait of Elle’s.  As I was driving home from school today I heard Elle saying “woof, woof” in the backseat (however she sounds more like a hooting owl than a barking dog).  I thought to myself, “Isaac used to sit in the car seat and yell “DUTCH!” (his word for car- we have no idea why), Truitt used to look for “choo choo’s”, Owen spotted every flag we passed and now Elle talks to the dogs”.   Elle absolutely ADORES dogs.  She calls Nancy’s dog Bodie “Bo-bo” yet she calls all three of her brothers “Isaac”.  She pets the dogs and ”loves” the dogs by laying her head on them.  It’s truly amazing how different each of my kids are.

Monster Mini Golf PARTY!

The Speelmans, Darbyshires and Kinasewitzes teamed up for a group birthday party for Jack (April 13), Owen (April 14) and Grant (April 15) at Monster Mash Mini Golf.  We reserved the party room and filled it with ALL eleven (and a half) of our kids.  We had such a great time!  After pizza and cake the big kids took to the putt-putt course.  Everything glowed in the dark . . . very cool.  I feel so fortunate that our three families have so much fun together.  I think ALL of the kids will remember what fun they had at this party!

A few more . . .

I wanted to post a few more images from my mini- session with Elle is her Easter dress.

Elle

Elle and I had a playdate today :) .

Steak and cake . . .

. . . that is what Isaac requested for his birthday dinner, oh and “boiled” broccoli (he actually wanted steamed broccoli).  After a delicious dinner Isaac opened his gifts.  I have a feeling his favorite gift was the “Bucket ‘o Soldiers”.  He is totally into WWII right now.  At the last minute Joe thought to get him the soldiers.  All of the kids (including Elle) wanted to play with those soldiers.  Isaac also received a HUGE Lego set (which he and Joe are still putting together and it’s 45 minutes after bedtime) and a Nerf rifle.  You may notice that Isaac broke out the Nerf rifle and ambushed his soldiers.  There were quite a few casualties.  Notice the orange Nerf bullet caught in mid-air on the bottom photo (Isaac and I were proud of ourselves for getting that shot).  In true “Isaac-form” he let Truitt, Owen and even Elle play with all his new toys.  I love that kid :) .

The Golden Hour

Elle *loves* to be outside.  She gets SO upset when we arrive home from Kim’s and I forceher inside the house (only because I’m carrying ten things that I need to get inside).  She’s already mastered the silent get-away by pushing the front door open before it latches (she follows the boys out).  Last night I grabbed my camera and followed her around a bit during the “golden hour” (when the sun is just about to set).  It has been so hard to get a decent picture of her lately . . . she’s a busy busy girl.  However, I like this one.  It’s a fleeting moment of stillness.

Busy, busy

I’ve been so busy lately . . . and it shows.  Miss Elle has been busy too.  She finally figured out how to climb up onto Truitt’s bed.  In this photo she is soaking up the view from the window beside his bed.  It’s probably similar to sitting atop Mt. Everest and soaking in the view :) .  Of course the braver she gets, the more bumps and bruises she accumulates.  She’s already fallen off once today.  This is only the beginning . . .

The ABC’s of Elle . . .

For Elle’s first birthday I made her an alphabet book with photos of familiar things.  I know that many of you have seen the book already, but I also wanted to make a slideshow of the pages.  I recently figured out how to create DVD’s of my slideshows that we can play on the TV, so I was excited to complete the ABC slideshow.  I don’t think I ever shared the book on my blog so this will be new to some of you.  Anyway, you can click HERE or on the image above to see A through Z.  I was so happy with the book.  Elle loves to look at it too which makes smile :) .

Fashionista

I think I have a girlie-girl on my hands.  Elle loves to “accessorize”.  She will wear sunglasses around the house, rubber bands on her wrists like bracelets, stuffed animal snakes as boas and anthing else she can find that’s wearable.  She also loves to give kisses with her super puckered lips . . . daddy taught her that.  Here she is giving kisses to Isaac while sitting in her doll stroller (she likes it when her brothers push her around in it).  Can you see Isaac in Elle’s sunglasses?  Love this girl so much :) .
