Ella + Elle {Maggie too!}

I’ve been wanting to photograph Elle and Ella all summer.  Ella lives just a few doors down and is only FOUR days younger than Elle!  She is cute as button and so is her little sister Maggie.  Elle LOVES to play with Ella (or Elwa as she calls her) and tonight they both had their strollers out.  They were sprinting down the sidewalk with them.  Truitt said it looked like a “stroller derby”.  The cutest part was that they immediately traded strollers and “babies” and shared quite well I might add.  It’s so great that she already has a friend in the neighborhood :) .

Fire Pit

We had an impromptu fire pit with the neighbors last night.  It was a nice little taste of summer.  Just NINE days left of school- woo-hoo!

Butterflies

I wanted to go to the Butterfly Show at the Krohn for Mother’s Day, but I knew it would be packed on Sunday.  So neighbor Nancy and I took all four kids this afternoon.  It was busier than I thought it would be, but after waiting a good 25 minutes we finally got it to see the Japanese butterflies.  The boys *love* trying catch the butterflies.  The Krohn provided silk flowers soaked in sugar water to entice them.  Luckily everyone was able to catch and inspect a butterfly up close- except for Elle who could have cared less anyway.  For once, I didn’t even take any pics for her.  If you get a chance you really should check them out before they fly away.  You can find a coupon toward admission HERE.

Tia

This is our neighbor Tia.  We have watched her grow up into such a beautiful young lady.  She was just a baby when we first moved into the neighborhood.  It’s hard to believe she’ll be in High School next year.  Last night she went to her 8th grade formal and I was lucky enough to snap a few shots before she left.  She bought that gorgeous dress with her very own hard-earned money.  This girl is one to watch- she’s going places.

Signs of Spring . . .

Last night was our first neighborhood fire pit of 2010!  It was so nice to sit outside under the street lights and enjoy everyones company.  Owen was on the verge of falling asleep on the couch, but when he saw the fire pit blazing in the driveway he quickly got his second wind.  I need to stock up on marshmallows for our next fire pit!

I’ve not been a very good blogger lately.  Never fear- Spring Break is just a week away.  I promise to post more now that Spring has sprung!

Another *snow* day . . . YAY!

Today we actually bundled up and played in the snow!  The boys helped Joe shovel the driveway too.  Elle was only out briefly.  She was not a big fan of the snow (or the cold).  Bodie (Nancy’s dog) was with us for a little while too- don’t you just love his boots!

Halloween!

Here are some photos from Halloween!  This is one of the toughest evenings of the year to photograph my kids . . . they just want to GO!  Elle fell asleep just as we were about to leave for trick-or-treating.  Oh well, she can’t eat the candy anyway!  I snapped a few pics of the neighbor kids . . . SO cute!!!  Baby Ella (the chicken) was born just three days after Elle!  Isn’t she so adorable!!!  The “other” Owen (the elephant) and his sister “Wivia” (aka Olivia the monkey) are two of my Owen’s best buddies.  It was the perfect Fall night for trick-or-treating and hanging out by the fire pit with some great neighbors.

Oh, I forgot to mention that Owen did his own face paint :) .

Street Party!

Last night was our annual street party.  Many of you know that I live on the best street EVER :) .  I tried so hard to get at least one photo of everyone there, but I know there are about 10-15 people I missed (not on purpose- I swear).  However, the one person that I can’t believe I missed is NANCY!  I think she must have been hiding everytime she saw me with my camera.  Anyway, we had a great time.  Owen was pretty much the only one that went all out for the bike parade, but I’m sure he didn’t mind being the star of the show.  The kids just love riding in the street since we have the city block it off.  Our neighbor Jesse, who is a DJ for B105 provided some serious tunes- it was awesome!  There was a ton of great food and lots of mingling with folks we don’t always get to talk to from down the street- good times.  Thanks everyone for a GREAT time!!!

The Gholz Family!

I was so happy to finally be able to photograph the Gholz family.  They are very dear friends of ours as well as former neighbors.  Nico and Owen spent so much time together when they lived just two houses away.  We all miss them so much!  Kelly is expecting her third boy . . . sounds familiar :).  I am so excited for them!  Life will be craaaazy, but oh so much fun!  Thanks Gholz family and don’t forget our pool date this Thursday ;).

Owen and Olivia

I spied these two sitting next to the sidewalk drawing pictures.  I had to grab my camera and snap a few quick shots.  Olivia lives two doors down.  She has a little brother named Owen too.  My Owen sneaks over to her house all the time to play.   They are so cute together.  Owen was teaching Olivia to draw flags (of course).
