Lovely Little Leah

When I arrived at Kim’s after school today I found little miss Leah all curled up.  She looked SO adorable!  I remembered that I had my camera in the van so I ran out to get it.  I just had to get a snap of this little sweetie.  Couldn’t you just eat her up!

Happy New Year!

We rang in the new year with our neighbors, the Mitchell’s, and our good friends Dave and Andrea.  We spent the night playing dominoes (a New Year’s Eve tradition) while the boys played with Devin and Chris’ old Legos.  It was a fun night!  Hope everyone had a great evening and may you all have a wonderful new year!

Veteran’s Day through Owen’s eyes . . .

All of these photos were taken by Owen.  Each year they fly the flags of all 50 states plus the flags of each branch of the armed services at Blue Ash Memorial Park.  As you can imagine, this is a big event for Owen.  This year I let him take the photos.  He had a blast.  Here’s a quick little video too . . . (I’ve been playing around with the video on my p+s as well as downloading trial video editing software.)

Thank a vet today :) .

I got a package in the mail on Monday . . .

I know . . . what took me so long to post it.  One word: STREP!  My house is riddled with it.  Joe had a fever that topped out at 104 on Monday.  He continues to be feverish, achy and his tonsils are touching each other because they are so swollen.  Isaac tested positive for strep yesterday.  Needless to say, I’ve been busy.  Off to another dr’s appointment.  More later . . .

Froggie

Oh my, I almost missed my deadline!  I’m going to sneak this one in 15 minutes before midnight.  This is one of my boys favorite camping “pets”.  You may remember Lily (the frog) from last year.  The one the boys loved a little too much (may she rest in peace).  They were much more careful this year and let “Froggie” go after an hour or so.  Andrea let me borrow her macro lens for a few shots.  I put Froggie on the hood of our car for his close up.  He really is a cutie :) .

Exciting news . . . need your help!

I’m double posting today because I just realized that the photo I entered into National Geographic’s “Your Shot” contest was in July 10th’s Daily Dozen.  I had no idea until I browsed through the images for July.  Exciting!  Anyway, it appears that the photo with the most votes (and the editors approval) will appear in the September National Geographic magazine (how cool would that be!).  It’s a long shot, but it never hurts to dream :) .  I’m not totally familiar with the voting process, but here is the link to vote . . . HERE.  My image is in July/Week 2.  I would be ever so grateful if you would hop on over and vote.  The voting machine is only open until August 1st.  Thanks so much!!!

Breathing space . . .

I rarely take a photo without someone in the frame.  On our ferry ride back from Put-in-Bay Truitt pointed out the seagulls following our boat.  I snapped a few frames of them which is not something I would normally do.  When I came across them on my memory card I was pleasantly surprised.  I like this image.

“Sis”

That’s what we call her :) .  Little miss Elle fits into our family just *perfectly*.  I think the boys are able to get the biggest laughs out of her . . . especially Owen.  I think she’s going to be a tough little cookie.  As my mom said when she watched all four kids, “Every time I started to tell the boys to be more gentle with Elle she seemed to enjoy their rough housing so much that I held my tongue.”  -and that is the truth.  I can’t believe she is seven months old already.  It makes me a little sad everytime she grows out of something.  Time is just flying by.  She has brought our family so much joy.   We were not complete without her.

Red, white and blue and delicious, too!

Phil’s sister-in-law made us this delicious dessert Sunday night and I think it would make an easy and delicious Fourth of July treat. She started with an angel food cake (store-bought), and sliced it horizontally into three pieces. Then she layered each piece with whipped cream (this she made), vanilla pudding, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. Easier than pie! Everyone should make one this weekend.

Campingpalooza 2009!

It’s that time again,  our annual camping trip kicks off tomorrow.  Eight action-packed days of camping mayhem!  Once again my sister will be taking over a-post-a-day for me.  Show her a little blog lovin’ while I’m gone (that means add a comment every now and then).  Check out this years logo, isn’t it AWESOME!.  Seriously, every year B knocks the design right out of the park and this year is no exception.  Thanks B!!!  The t-shirts are hot off the presses and we are madly packing.  We will have to take two vehicles this year- and they are both stuffed to the roof.  Hopefully we’ll still have room for the kids :) .  I promise to have lots of pics when I return next week!
