I’m sure most of you are familiar with Google’s “Doodles”. They are the little illustrations that pop up on Google’s homepage on holidays and other special occasions with links to information about the event. Each year Google has contest to create an original doodle focusing on a particular theme. This years theme is “If I could travel in time, I’d visit . . .”. I love the idea of taking a globally recognized logo and modifying it to fit a theme. I gave my 8th graders a sketchbook assignment to create a Google Doodle that went along with this years theme. I wanted to share a few of the results!
Jani - Nice ideas. Love all four pieces, very creative.
Jodi Kinasewitz - These are aweSOME!
Lori B. - Wow. I must live in the dark ages because I have never heard of Google Doodles. I love, love, love what your students have done. They are all amazing! What grade do you teach?
Melissa - Thanks all! Lori- I teach Jr. High . . . grades 7 and 8
Jamie E - These are all by 8th graders??? I thought they were yours! They are so creative and so well illustrated. The Coco Chanel one especially impressed me — the interlocking C’s for the o’s and the scissors for the l/c g are ingenious! Are they going to submit these for the contest? You might have some winning entries here!
Amye Kelly - I LOVE these doodles. SO impressive! Talented students and a talented teacher. : )
Melissa - All of these were designed by my 8th graders. Amye- you would probably recognize a few of the students who made them ;). I mailed the designs to Google this week . . . we’ll see what happens! They’re all winners to me!
Karen H - Those are some crazy talented kids! WOW! Hope they win!
b - Love Coco!
