More tree farm photos . . .

This is one of my all-time favorite Speelman family traditions.  I think everyone in our family would agree.  We had such a beautiful day for tree hunting too.  Everyone helped to get the tree back to the farm . . . even Elle!   Mid-day full sun is not always ideal for photographs.  I decided to just embrace the sun.  You will notice that some of my skies are deep blue and others are almost white.  When the sun is behind me I get those beautiful deep blue tones.  However, my subject’s face will also have harsh shadows.  If I shoot into the sun I get very light blue or white skies.  I have to overexpose the photo so that my subjects aren’t silhouetted.

Jani - Well, my wait was worth it — love these. The photo of Elle walking beside her Daddy was awesome. I think the photo of Elle trying to pull the tree was precious. Great tradition, even better captures.

Elaine Lybarger - How awesome and wonderful is Elle’s Alice in Wonderland!!!! You are so talented and gifted, Melissa!
I have a favor to ask of you. Is it Ft. Walton Beach in FL that you go to before school starts? If it is, a good friend and her family want to go there and was wondering where you stayed. Wishing you and your darling family a healthy and happy 2012!
