Red, white and blueberry

I know, I know, when Melissa goes out of town, I fill in with blogs about food. Well I love food! And here’s some more. For a friend’s Fourth of July festivity I needed to make something delicious that did not require turning on the oven. And here is a red white and blue trifle, recipe courtesy of Martha Stewart. It was soooo good! And it was gone in under 20 minutes after sitting it on the table. I highly recommend making one before berry season is over.

My mom will be posting next with after she visits the campsite tomorrow.

Jani - Looks yummy! I love the details of the mixer and chunks of angel food cake, those shots make me want to touch them.

Jeanie DeTemple - B needs to open a cafe! I would drive to Chicago to eat there. These photos are so inviting! And I needed a new recipe that is easy. Thanks!

Jani - B — I wanted to try this sweet treat. I changed the recipe a little from what Martha suggested. I combined a tub of cream cheese filling and Cool Whip, used blueberries, strawberries and raspberries — it was wonderful. I wonder how it would taste with other fruit choices. I would think a mandarin orange and pineapple combination might work?

b - Jani that sounds good! I actually used angel food cake instead of pound cake to make it a little lighter and it was quite good. The orange and pineapple sounds really yummy, and you could make it in the middle of winter. I might have to try that!
