Unexpected tears . . .

Today was Owen’s first day of pre-school.  I really thought I was completely ready for the moment I dropped him off in his homeroom.  To my surprise, I wasn’t.  I don’t think Owen was either.  He didn’t actually cry when I left, but the look in his eye was not one of comfort.  His buddy Jack had not arrived at school yet.  I spoke with Jodi later that morning and she said that when they arrived it seemed that Owen had been crying, but one look at Jack and he was just fine.  I’m so very glad they have one another.  I also had to take Lucy to be put down today.  Again, I thought I was totally ready for this.  She is nineteen years old and looks pretty worse for the wear.  However, once I took her through the doors I just couldn’t hold back the tears.  She’s been such a good companion to all of us.  We miss you Lucy 🙂 .

Michelle Clapsaddle, New Mexico - Melissa,

I’m really sorry about Lucy. I don’t think that losing a pet (or anyone else is our lives) is something that we can fully prepare ourselves for….

I just hope that you find comfort in all the wonderful moments that she purred when you were petting her!

Jodi Kinasewitz - So glad that Jack and Owen have each other to lean on- what are we going to do when Kindergarten rolls around!?!? Jack talked about him and Owen at BIG school all day and he even mentioned some girls that wanted to kiss them at lunch- “Sally and Crystal”- I’m not sure, but those names sound “made up” to me! 🙂 So sorry about Lucy- see you bright and early tomorrow morning!

rachel - I also have an Owen who starts preschool in 2 weeks. I also have a baby, although he is younger than Elle, he is just 3 months old. And like you, I also had to put a beloved pet down a few weeks ago, Lady, our 14 year old golden retriever. It’s never easy. Good luck with going back to school and juggling all that is on your plate. I can relate. I have 5 kids (oldest is 10, youngest is 3 months) and was a teacher until #4 came along. I feel your exhaustion!

Barb - I am so sorry to hear about Lucy. You were blessed to have 19 years though. I cannot believe Owen is going to preschool already. It helps to have someone you know there. Give him a few days and he will be eager to get there!

kelly - Melissa – I’m sorry that it was a hard day. I can remember when Nico was little and took a hige chunk of Lucy’s hair and she still sat there. She was a good kitty 🙂 Owen in school, he is a big boy now!!!!

Julie - You have such an emotional week. Sorry to hear about Lucy. 🙁
Owen is going to thrive at preschool! I’m so glad he has his buddy Jack to play with.
I hope school went well for you. Been thinking of you!
